Apple Event Set for March 8, New iPhone SE and more products expected
Apple has confirmed its first major event of 2022. The company will host the new Apple event on March 8. At the event, the company is expected to announce multiple new products. The company did not reveal the exact details in its “Peek Performance” launch event invite. However, the rumour mill has dropped some hints in the past. One of the new products launching on March 8 could be the new iPhone SE 5G.
Apple could also unveil a new iPad Air at the event alongside the new iPhone SE 5G. In addition to this, we might see the Mac mini get refreshed with support for M1 Pro and M1 Max chips. Let’s take a look at what to expect from the upcoming Apple event.
Apple event on March 8
The Apple event set to be hosted on March 8 has been titled Peek Performance. The event will be hosted virtually with no media presence. Apple is expected to announce the new iPhone SE 5G. It will have the same design as the iPhone SE 2020. This means that there will be a 4.7-inch display at the front with thick bezels at the top and bottom. The device will also have the Home button for the Touch ID sensor.
There have been rumours that Apple might refresh the design and launch the iPhone SE 5G with a notch at the top of the display. The phone could then come with a 6.1-inch screen. However, most rumours suggest that Apple will stick with a 4.7-inch display for this year.
The new iPhone will get 5G network support as the moniker suggests. It will come with the latest A15 chip, if not the slightly older A14 chip for 5G network support. There will be a single 12MP rear camera or an 8MP sensor on the back.
Alongside the iPhone, a new iPad Air could also be launched at the event. Most changes are likely to take place under the hood. It will come with a faster chip that will also offer 5G network connectivity. As expected from the Air lineup, it could come in multiple colours. The event also has the Apple logo in multiple colours, which further hint at the iPad Air’s launch.
Apple might also launch a new Mac mini M1 Pro/ M1 Max. The new chips were announced late last year alongside the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models. More details should surface online as we get closer to the launch.
